Breastfeeding stories: Juliet Dizon

Juliet Dizon Solutions Consultant for Hotels & Restaurants     I didn't get to breastfeed my eldest daughter because I wasn't well aware of how to go about it and I didn't have the right mindset. When I learned I was having twins, I knew I had to try my best to breastfeed.  I was lucky to find good friends who were breastfeeding advocates and helped me prepare for it.  I had premature twins who were born at 31 weeks and both had inguinal hernia.  We were always watching their weights, so they could be released from the NICU, and so they could get surgery for hernia repair.  I felt my milk was not enough to make them gain weight...

Breastfeeding stories: Nikka Infante

Nikka Infante Former Banker, now Full-time Mommy / Mompreneur     Two days post-partum, I had low milk supply. Luckily, my nurse at that time was a breastfeeding advocate (Admin. of Breastfeeding Club Dumaguete). She helped me and gave me tips on how to boost my milk supply. On the third day, my milk supply increased.  When my baby was born, she had jaundice due to ABO incompatibility so she had to stay at the hospital for five days. This liquid gold is undoubtedly the best! Second, it is very economical. Breast milk is free! Third, the special bonding and the emotional relationship that I established from it…wow, it is priceless!  Fourth, it was my goal to exclusively breastfeed my son. Reaching the two-year mark was a milestone for me and my baby, too.  Lastly,...

Breastfeeding stories: NOVIE SOBREJUANITE

NOVIE SOBREJUANITE     Certified Public Accountant         It was my husband who pushed me to breastfeed since he knew the benefits of breast milk better than I did. I was hesitant to breastfeed my baby at first because I doubted my milk supply (due to lack of breastfeeding education).  I also experienced the following challenges: Low milk supply - After my maternity leave, I was not able to store enough milk for my baby but I didn’t want to top-up with formula. So I asked for breast milk donations from friends. Later, a good quality, hospital-grade pump helped a lot! I tried to follow a regular schedule for milk expression, either through direct latch or pumping....

Breastfeeding stories: Dr. Rima Absin

Dr. Rima Absin Emergency Medicine Resident Physician     I struggled with infertility for 8 long years. Finally when I had my baby girl, I was determined to breastfeed her. However, it was not as easy as I thought it would be.  As a first time mother, I did not know what to do. Thankfully, our Cebu business partner, Vanessa, who is also my best friend, introduced me to this wonderful clothing line Bfeedingmum. I had not worn anything else since then, even at work.  Now, exclusively breastfeeding at 15 months and working as a frontliner, it is a struggle to keep up with my milk supply while going on 72 hours straight duty.  But I know it is possible...
